to Birchwood Boxers Homepage.
We are Jeff and Rita Wernette and reside with our 3 children Erica,
Kristen and Jacob in Lake, Michigan.
I met my first boxer while working at my veterinarians clinic. She was
a beautiful plain fawn girl and was so human acting and very expressive.
I absolutely fell in love with her and knew one day Iwould have a boxer.
Many years later I found a flashy boxer boy for sale. I purchased Max
from a backyard breeder as i felt sorry for him as he was in very poor
condition. I nursed him back to health and he was my very bestest buddy.
Max unexpectantly went to the bridge at a young age. I was devasted
to say the least. I then researched the breed even more and decided
I wanted to get into showing. I came across another boxer boy, Sunars
Golddigger Y (Willie) Willie quickly became my first champion. First
and foremost he is a family member and loved very dearly.
We do breed occaisionally. We believe in breeding to improve the breed
and believe in Quality, not Quantity. We also will not breed without
fully health testing all dogs. This is VERY important to us and we will
not breed to any dogs not tested as well. Our dogs also do patient therapy
at the local Medical Care Facility and are loved by all who meet them.
Temperament is as important to us as Health testing.
